Distorted and noisy audio output by Mixtreme

Q: After installing a Mixtreme in a PC running Windows 7 we found out that the stereo output #3 sounds noisy and distorted. Additional the Mixtreme mixer shows also sound level on the channel left to the real used channel.

A: We found out that this is caused by a bug in Windows 7 which occurs in cases where more than 2 GB of RAM are plugged in the PC. It seems that there is a problem in addressing the PCI bus which is related to the size of the used amount of memory.

After removing some memory modules both the mixer display and the sound output problem were fixed.
