Q: Is it possible to run BCS on a Microsoft Windows Server 2008?
A: Currentyl you will get an error message if you try to start the standard BCS.exe under Windows Server 2008. The following dialog will appear:
Unsupported Operating System: BroadcastServer needs Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows Server 2003.
If you plan to migrate to Windows Server 2008 please contact our support department to get an approved version of BCS for Windows Server 2008.
We strongly recommend to disable UAC on Windows Server 2008. This can be done in Windows Control Panel : Administrative Tolls \ System Configuration --> Tools --> Disable UAC --> Launch
You need to reboot the server afterwards.
The setting will be stored in Windows registry: HKLM \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \Policies \ System : EnableLUA = 0
Update: Since Release 2010.1 the provided BCS.exe uploaded to our FTP server is approved to run under Windows Server 2008 and R2 (x64).
Please pay attention to write restrictions to the application folder.
It is also recommend to install applications below C:\Program Files (x86)\DigaSystem
