About Rundown Broker
Rundown Broker enables ROAD to play and distribute rundown elements according to defined BCS schedules. This allows headless distribution of a BCS program without the need for a TurboPlayer / Multiplayer.
Typical use cases for a Rundown Broker / ROAD solution are on-demand pop-up radio streams, web streams of program variations (e.g. with alternative music), target group related web streams, other pre-scheduled radio web streams and other "non-live" use cases such as on-demand studio playback, pre-recorded DJ slots, etc. It can be combined with TurboPlayer for regional breakouts or other ad-hoc channel distributions.
With ROAD's mixing feature, it can be used to mix live streams into BCS rundowns for live-event related use cases.
The Rundown Broker is a service that mediates between the BCS and ROAD backends. Controlled by rundown configurations, it manages the playback of BCS programs. A program cache enabled look-ahead control of the ROAD backend to play pre-scheduled audio files with crossfades defined by the mark-in and mark-out metadata. The current playout state is mirrored back into BCS and can be observed by other scheduling clients. It comes with a standalone configuration tool to set the BCS, schedule track and ROAD targets.
Licensing
Rundown Broker is a separate component that needs extra licensing.
