Endpoint Stories

An Endpoint Story is a container which holds the elements – audio and otherwise – which are to be broadcast during a specific interval in time. You create and fill them in one of the content production tools (DBM or DPE Content Manager). You schedule them with DigAIRange or another scheduling tool. And you put them to TurboPlayer or another playout tool to go online.

This part of the documentation does not describe how to enable or create endpoints or the user rights which are needed to use Endpoint stories. It describes only actions and restrictions concerning the OnAIRTrackMixer.

Dependencies

Applications

  • OnAirTrackMixer 2.10.840.0

  • BCS 6.4.466.0

  • TurboPlayer 6.4.2812.0

  • DigAIRange 6.6.1008.0

Parameters

  • BroadcastServer\<config>\Settings\StartAttributeInheritance=Regular

Definitions

  • Neutral Element: Each Endpoint Story has at least one element where the field ‘Distribution Endpoints’ is empty or contains the endpoint ‘TurboPlayer’ (‘Distribution Endpoints’ is a comma seperated list of endpoints). This element is used if there is no element for a specific endpoint.

Restrictions

These restrictions apply only in connection with OTM. They does not apply for other applications like TurboPlayer or DigAIRange.

  1. OTM supports only 1 neutral element per Endpoint Story.

  2. It is only possible to fade the neutral element with the neutral element of other Endpoint Stories or with elements outside of an Endpoint Story.

  3. The fade values from the neutral element are copied to all other elements in an Endpoint Story, which is done by DigAIRange or TurboPlayer.

  4. Non-neutral elements can only be loaded in OTM in single-track mode. Multi-track mode only supports loading of the neutral element.

Load show with Endpoint Stories to OTM

There are multiple ways to load endpoint stories to OTM. They fall in 2 areas:

  1. OTM in single-track mode

  2. OTM in multi-track mode

Single-Track Mode

  • Drag single Audio Element to the OTM. You can drag all audio elements to the OTM. Even elements with start mode ‘Synced Start’ are supported.

  • Drag Endpoint story to the OTM. In this case only the neutral element of the endpoint story is loaded to the OTM.

Multi-Track Mode

  • Drag audio elements from TP/DA to OTM

  • Drag Endpoint stories from TP/DA to OTM

  • Use Overview Track at the bottom of the OTM to load audio elements and the neutral elements of an Endpoint Stories.
